Our Wedding Squad
It’s 2021, folks.
We don’t have “bridesmaids” and “groomsmen” in our party — just one big wonderful Wedding Squad!
Sarah Smyth - Officiant
Sister of the groom. Middle School theater teacher, actress, born to officiate.
Dan Smyth
Brother of the groom. Power lawyer. The bride’s coach in Irish drinking songs.
Julie Pedtke
Sister of the bride. Architect / designer / public housing advocate changing the world. Watch her Ted Talk. Admire her adorable goat art on this website. Be in awe.
Cathy Pedtke
Sister of the bride. Chef / project manager / food rescuer changing the world. Watch her run marathons and triathlons (and ULTRAmarathons - as if the regular ones weren’t bad enough). Eat her delicious food. Be in awe.
Isaac Moylan
Friend of the groom (and next-door neighbor in Queens) since age 5. Artist badass. Married to Laura De Anda. (We claim credit for introducing them!)
Laura De Anda
Friend of the bride since 2010 (and very first NYC roomie!) Organizer and DE&I trainer badass. Married to Isaac Moylan. (See above.)
Kennan Arlen
Friend of the bride since age 16. (Now also the groom’s top source for fantasy / sci-fi novels.) Honorary Pedtke. Hiker / climber / programmer / adventurer extraordinaire.
Mia Kiyashka
Friend of the groom since age 13. Hardware + computer security badass. Fellow member of the Pinball Quizzards pub trivia team, always a force to be reckoned with.
Diane Collins
Friend of the bride since 2011. Fellow SCA Hudson Valley AmeriCorps Member and partner-in-crime on many a biking, hiking, and camping adventure.
Rory Donnelly
Friend of the groom since age 13. Middle East expert and research badass. Unable to travel from Belfast for the wedding — but sorely missed!
Clara Bunker &
Adam Brodowski - Photographers
Our fabulous photographers are also honorary members of the Wedding Squad.
This power couple came to volunteer with New York Cares at the bride’s community garden back in 2011, and they have been sharing adventures with us ever since. (Some of you may also know them as pro bono photographers covering SCA volunteer events.)
